Incoming Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino is eyeing Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane
According to The Independent (h/t Metro), Chelsea-bound Mauricio Pochettino is keen to raid Tottenham Hotspur for Harry Kane in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Spurs faithful were subjected to yet another poor performance by the side, this time against Aston Villa. If they felt things could not have gotten any worse, it was revealed later in the night that Pochettino would indeed take over at arch-rivals Chelsea.
The Argentine is still considered a hero at Tottenham and also appeared keen for a second stint in charge. Daniel Levy, however, appears to have other ideas and it is now our arch-rivals who will benefit from his inaction.
Pochettino now appears keen to take Harry Kane with him, a key blow that could set us back badly. The English skipper is the club’s top scorer and a bonafide legend but his efforts have achieved little in terms of Tottenham securing silverware.
At 29, time is running out for Kane to build a legacy as a winner. His individual records will stay rooted in club and Premier League history but the lack of silverware remains a major blot on an otherwise brilliant career.
Kane’s contract at Tottenham expires at the end of the 2023/24 campaign and the time is now for Tottenham to convince him that staying put is the right call. Should Levy and co fail to get their managerial and player recruitment right, Kane’s head could be turned if Pochettino manages to convince him.
It was after all, under the Argentine that Kane developed from a prospect to a truly world-class striker. Chelsea have a talented squad but lacks a reliable goalscorer. On paper, Kane would appear to be a square peg in a square hole for the Blues. It would be best for us not to be lulled into a false sense of security.

If watching Pochettino in Chelsea colours will hurt, watching Kane follow in his wake could break most of us. The ball is now in Levy and Co’s court as they try to salvage our spot as one of the Premier League’s top teams.
