Liverpool set around £25 million price tag on Tottenham Hotspur target Caoimhin Kelleher
Tottenham Hotspur will have to pay around £25 million to convince Liverpool to part ways with Caoimhin Kelleher next summer, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required) [h/t Liverpool Echo].
The Ireland international represents the Anfield side’s ‘most valuable asset’ ahead of the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the North London side are eyeing a move for the shot-stopper.
Having been a bit-part player for most of his time at the Reds, the 24-year-old would ‘relish the chance’ for regular minutes on the pitch at a different club. Apart from Spurs, Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford also have him on their radar.
Kelleher made his way through the youth ranks at Liverpool and has been in and around the first-team setup for some time now. However, the Irish national has Alisson Becker ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Brazilian has been one of the best goalkeepers in the world over the years. As a result, it seems unlikely that the 24-year-old will pip the former AS Roma shot-stopper to the number one spot as things stand.
But whenever Kelleher has featured for the Merseysiders, he has held his own. The Irish national has shown great promise but has been reduced to just five appearances in all competitions for the Anfield side in the current campaign.

As for Tottenham, Hugo Lloris has been our number-one for over a decade. The French national has given his best years to the North London side. However, the veteran goalkeeper looks to be on the decline.
The 36-year-old is evidently in the final stretch of his playing career. On the other hand, Fraser Forster, who has been Spurs’ second-choice shot-stopper this season, is not getting any younger either.

Thus, it would be wise for Tottenham to plan for the future. However, Kelleher is still relatively inexperienced and has not been tested consistently in the English top flight. Therefore, whether the Lilywhites will meet Liverpool’s asking price next summer remains to be seen.
