Napoli keen to trump Tottenham Hotspur for Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano
According to Italian outlet Area Napoli, Serie A champions SSC Napoli are keeping tabs on Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Vincenzo Italiano.
The 45-year-old is earning rave reviews following an excellent spell in charge of ACF Fiorentina. La Viola have turned into a formidable side under his leadership and will participate in this season’s UEFA Conference League final vs West Ham United.
With the season now over, Daniel Levy will need to bring in a new manager as soon as possible. The longer we delay, the harder it will be to attract someone who can go on to make a tangible difference to the club’s fortunes.
One of the names in the fray is that of Italiano. While the Azzurri tactician is far from a household name, his stock is on the rise given his recent achievements. While he might punch above his weight at a side like Fiorentina, it is questiobale if Italiano has what it takes to challenge the likes of Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
One team who does not appear to share those concerns is Napoli. Luciano Spalletti is set to take a sabbatical following his Scudetto success and it is imperative that they bring in the right man to build upon this season’s success.
Aurelio De Laurentiis has a good relationship with Fiorentina and that could swap the decision his way. As things stand, we look likely to miss out on another target.
Given where we are and where we want to be, the lack of a manager with a long-term vision to guide the roster is a real mess. Hopefully, it will be addressed sooner rather than later.

With the likes of Harry Kane likely to leave, whoever comes in will have a real job on his hands. The longer we put it off, the harder we make it. Managing Tottenham is not easy in the best of times and Levy will do well to make life easier for his picked boss.
