Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou remains coy on Tottenham Hotspur links
Speaking to Viaplay Sport, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou has once again refused to be drawn on the swirling speculation linking him to the Tottenham Hotspur job.
After guiding his side to a remarkable domestic treble, the Australian manager has preferred to bask in the glory of his team’s success rather than engage in transfer talk. It is understandable from the experienced manager.
Celtic emerged triumphant after a hard-fought battle against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, securing their third trophy of the season at the iconic Hampden Park. Ange Postecoglou, true to his character, emphasized that his immediate focus is to relish the celebrations of a wildly successful campaign.
Tottenham are keen to open discussions with the talented coach, but they have maintained a respectful distance until Celtic’s final match of the season concluded. It may now be time for the club to go all out for the manager.
The North London club has been searching for a permanent appointment since the departure of Antonio Conte back in March, with Daniel Levy and the Tottenham board taking their time to ensure the right fit.
Initially, the interim reins were handed over to Cristian Stellini, but the 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United quickly led to his departure and a chance for Ryan Mason to take charge. Unfortunately, Mason’s tenure only yielded an eighth-place finish, marking the first time in over a decade that Spurs failed to secure European qualification.
Speaking about the situation, when asked about his future, here is what Postecoglou had to say
“I’m going on holiday on Tuesday and can’t wait. Again, I didn’t want to talk about it. I want to enjoy this. People might think it’s selfish but I’m not thinking about anything else”
Postecoglou represents a very interesting option for Tottenham. He is an off-field choice but the kind of credentials that he possesses makes him a very enticing option for the club in the current times.
