Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix linked with Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix, who is on loan at Chelsea, ahead of the upcoming transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The 23-year-old joined the Blues on a temporary move in January. However, the Portugal international is set to return to the La Liga outfit, with the Stamford Bridge side not keen on him.
But the forward’s future at the Metropolitano Stadium side looks uncertain. As things stand, he has no place in the plans of Diego Simeone. To that end, the former Benfica star’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is looking for a way out for him, prioritising staying in the Premier League.
Aston Villa and Newcastle United have been sounded out by Felix’s representative. Along with Spurs, Manchester United have also been associated with acquiring the 23-year-old’s services in the coming months. North London rivals Arsenal have also been tipped as a potential destination.
The Portuguese has been unable to live up to expectations at Atletico, having signed for them in the summer of 2019. At the Madrid-based club in the 2022/23 season, the forward found game time hard to come by.
However, Felix did not disappoint in England. The 23-year-old was one of the Blues’ best players in the final months of the campaign and the attacker proved himself at the West London club.
Tottenham have had to rely on Harry Kane to find the back of the net on a consistent basis this season. The English skipper has led by example up top.
Unfortunately, none of our other forwards was able to contribute considerably and support the 29-year-old in the attack. Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevksi and Richarlison were underwhelming in the 2022/23 campaign.

Felix is a quality player with immense talent and potential. But will Spurs be able to entice the Portuguese without any European football? Only time will tell. It would nevertheless be a shock move from all parties involved, given Felix was just playing for one of our biggest rivals earlier this year.
