Matt Law says Giovani Lo Celso is not keen on coming back to Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso appears to have his sights set on a new chapter in his career, as journalist Matt Law suggests the Argentine is not keen on making a comeback to the North London club.
Following the arrival of former Spurs manager Antonio Conte, Lo Celso found himself on the periphery of the squad and subsequently embarked on an 18-month loan spell at Villarreal. The move turned out to be a resounding success, with the midfielder leaving an indelible mark during his time in Spain.
Now, with new manager Ange Postecoglou at the helm, there seemed to be a glimmer of hope for Lo Celso to impress and secure a place in the Tottenham squad once again. However, it seems like the player does not want that.
Law’s recent comments indicate that the talented Argentina international has set his sights on departing from Tottenham this summer, despite the potential opportunity for a fresh start under the new leadership.
Law also suggested that Tottenham could command a handsome transfer fee for Lo Celso, owing to his impressive loan spell at Villarreal. The club’s decision to send him out on loan appears to have paid dividends, and now they stand to benefit from a profitable sale.
In an interview with Last Word On Spurs, Law expressed his views on the matter:
“It seems highly likely that Lo Celso will be on the move, and given his stellar performances during the loan, Tottenham can expect a substantial return. The general sentiment I’ve gathered is that he doesn’t harbour any intentions of returning to the club. It appears that ship has sailed.”
Interestingly, there are reports linking Lo Celso with a potential reunion with his former coach, Unai Emery, who is currently managing Aston Villa. The Spaniard is building a very impressive project at Villa Park.
A move to Aston Villa, where he could be guided by Emery, would provide Lo Celso with a fresh opportunity to reignite his career in England. The talented midfielder has already left a lasting impression on the Spanish coach during their time together at Villarreal.
