West Ham United leading Tottenham Hotspur in Leicester City forward Harvey Barnes race
Tottenham Hotspur are trailing Premier League rivals West Ham United in the race for Leicester City star Harvey Barnes, according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required).
The England international is one of the Hammers’ top targets ahead of the upcoming transfer window. As things stand, the Irons have taken the most concrete step in acquiring the services of the forward and are set to start discussions with the Foxes.
However, the London Stadium side are not the only ones eyeing the 25-year-old. Apart from Spurs, Aston Villa and Newcastle United also have him on their radar after the Foxes’ relegation to the Championship.
But it remains to be seen who will get a hold of Barnes’ signature. At the moment, the King Power Stadium side value the English national at around £40 million.
The 25-year-old is a Leicester academy product. After making his way through the youth ranks at the Foxes and going out on a few loans, the forward established himself at the King Power Stadium side in 2019.
While the East Midlands struggled in the 2022/23 season and were relegated, Barnes shone. The English national found the back of the net 13 times in 34 appearances in the English top flight.
West Ham struggled in the league as well. However, David Moyes’ team ended the campaign by lifting the UEFA Europa Conference League final and have booked a place for themselves in the UEL.
On the other hand, Tottenham finished eighth in the PL. The 2022/23 season was disappointing overall for us, with Harry Kane the only positive. Although, we do have the likes of Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison in our ranks as well.
