Tottenham are not willing to pay more than £17m for Roger Ibanez

Tottenham Hotspur are making their intentions clear in the transfer market, with their sights set on Roger Ibanez from AS Roma.

However, it seems that the North London club is not willing to break the bank for the Brazilian centre-back, as they have reportedly drawn a line regarding his valuation. The North London club do not want to pay more than £17m, according to Giallorossi.net.

Tottenham, along with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, are among the top contenders vying for Ibanez’s signature. These clubs have recognized the talent and potential of the defender, but they seem to have reservations when it comes to meeting AS Roma’s hefty price tag.

The Italian side are eager to offload some players in order to balance their books, and Ibanez has emerged as one of the prime candidates for a big-money move. Sporting director Tiago Pinto has valued the centre-back at a staggering €40 million.

However, it appears that Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are not willing to go beyond €20 million for Ibanez. This valuation falls significantly short of AS Roma’s demands, making negotiations between the clubs somewhat stagnant at the moment.

While Tottenham fans may feel that the club should be more ambitious in the transfer market, it is important to remember the financial landscape in modern football. Clubs must exercise caution and financial prudence to ensure long-term stability and compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Furthermore, Tottenham’s stance on Ibanez’s valuation should not be interpreted as a lack of faith in his abilities. On the contrary, it is a testament to the club’s desire to strike a fair deal and avoid overspending on a single player.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Tottenham Hotspur will undoubtedly continue their pursuit of defensive reinforcements. While Ibanez remains an attractive prospect, the club will need to assess other options if they are unable to reach an agreement with AS Roma.
