Danny Murphy says Maddison and Raya would be legendary signings for Tottenham
Speaking to Talksport, Danny Murphy has claimed that James Maddison and David Raya would make Tottenham a few steps closer to competing for the Champions League.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Leicester City midfielder James Maddison in recent weeks. The 26-year-old England international is expected to join a Premier League club this summer following Leicester’s relegation from the top flight.
Maddison has undoubtedly showcased his skills throughout the past season, scoring 10 goals and providing 9 assists across all competitions. With his impressive performances, it is no surprise that various clubs are vying for Maddison’s signature.
However, one person who strongly believes he would be an ideal fit for Tottenham is former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy. Murphy goes as far as stating that James Maddison could develop into a club legend at the North London club, highlighting the impact he could have on the team.
The need for a quality playmaker at Spurs is apparent, and Maddison’s arrival could address this deficiency. His ability to create goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates would undoubtedly bolster Tottenham’s attack.
Another player Murphy believes would greatly benefit Tottenham is David Raya from Brentford, whom he sees as a potential replacement for the ageing Hugo Lloris. Here is what he had to say
“He (Maddison) could become a real legend there. I do (think he’s a perfect fit for Spurs). Perfect. I think they are three or four players away from competing in the Champions League. Those two (Raya and Maddison) would be two really good additions. But defensively they have problems.”
Raya, who has proven himself to be a capable Premier League goalkeeper, would be a valuable addition to the Tottenham squad. His shot-stopping abilities and commanding presence in the box could solidify their defence and provide the necessary stability between the posts.
Undoubtedly, both Maddison and Raya possess the qualities needed to elevate Tottenham’s performance. Their arrival would not only provide an immediate impact but also contribute to the long-term development and success of the club.
