Crystal Palace eye Torino defender Perr Schuurs as replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi
Torino defender Perr Schuurs is being eyed by Crystal Palace as a replacement for Tottenham Hotspur target Marc Guehi, according to the Daily Mail.
The Eagles have stepped up their interest in the Holland national this summer. As things stand, Newcastle United and Serie A champions Napoli also have the 23-year-old on their radar.
Palace want to acquire Schuurs services amidst concerns over Guehi’s future. The England international is a target for Spurs in the ongoing transfer window. Premier League rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool also want the 22-year-old.
It remains to be seen whether the Holland national will make his way to the Selhurst Park side. Prior to his stint in Italy, the 23-year-old played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax Amsterdam. In Turin, the defender has caught a lot of people’s attention in his debut season.
As for Guehi, he has been brilliant for Palace since signing from Chelsea. The English national made his way through the youth ranks at the Stamford Bridge side. But in the summer of 2021, the Eagles got a hold of the centre-back’s signature.
In the previous two campaigns, the 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength. The defender was key as Roy Hodson helped the Selhurst Park side avoid relegation from the English top flight.
Tottenham’s backline was all over the place last season. Antonio Conte is known for bringing defensive stability to his teams. However, the Italian was unable to achieve that at the North London side.
Spurs relied on the likes of Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davis and Clement Lenglet at the back. Unfortunately, all of them had topsy-turvy campaigns at the Lilywhites.

Guehi is an up-and-coming star who has showcased immense potential in the PL. The English national’s leadership qualities are evident, having been handed the captain’s armband at Palace. Hopefully, with the Eagles looking to sign Shuurs, the door will open for the 22-year-old’s move to the N17 this summer.
