Tottenham defender Joe Rodon could leave the club this summer
According to Football. London, Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon could be on his way out of the club this summer seeking pastures new.
The talented young defender doesn’t look like he is going to crack it at the N17. His talent has never been in question but for some reason or the other, it looks like Rodon’s time at the club is coming to an end.
The Welsh international, who spent last season on loan at Rennes, is believed to be eyeing a departure in pursuit of regular playing time. During his loan spell, Joe Rodon made an impressive 22 appearances for the Ligue 1 side, showcasing his abilities on the continental stage.
With two years remaining on his current contract, the 25-year-old has attracted interest from clubs in both England and France. However, it seems that his future lies away from Tottenham Hotspur.
Ange Postecoglou, the newly appointed Australian manager, is expected to assess Rodon’s capabilities before making a final decision on the defender’s future. Nevertheless, it appears likely that Rodon will be seeking pastures new.
At this stage of his career, it is crucial for Rodon to secure regular playing time. Unfortunately, such opportunities seem unlikely to materialize at the North London club. It would, therefore, be in his best interest to seek a permanent move this summer, ensuring he can continue his development on the pitch.
This potential departure forms part of a broader potential rebuild for Tottenham Hotspur. Following the appointment of Postecoglou, changes in terms of incoming and outgoing players are expected.
Similarly, Rodon may be deemed surplus to requirements if he fails to align with the new philosophy at Tottenham. Given the defensive vulnerabilities exhibited by the team last season, it is imperative that the club invests in a high-quality central defender.
