Tottenham are looking at David Raya alternatives due to asking price
Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport has claimed that Tottenham are looking at alternatives to Brentford goalkeeper David Raya as they are not willing to match the asking price that Brentford are demanding.
The highly-rated Spanish shot-stopper has been linked with a move to North London, but Spurs are reluctant to meet Brentford’s hefty £40 million valuation. This has led them to turn elsewhere.
While they hold David Raya in high regard, the club is not prepared to pay the extravagant asking price set by Brentford. The Spaniard is an extremely talented keeper but Tottenham as usual do not want to bring out the checkbook.
This decision highlights the significance of the upcoming summer transfer window for Tottenham and their new manager, Ange Postecoglou, who is in search of a goalkeeper that fits his playing philosophy.
However, the current gap between Brentford’s valuation and Spurs’ maximum offer stands at around £10 million. The Bees however are in no mood to budge and both parties need to reach a middle ground.
The situation raises questions about Raya’s next move. With the desire to secure a transfer and test himself at a higher level, the talented shot-stopper might find it tempting to push for a move away from Brentford.
Lloris himself has expressed a desire to leave the club, and Tottenham appears open to selling him after a disappointing season. With the Frenchman’s contract set to expire next summer, it makes sense to take this call.
The quest for a suitable replacement for Lloris is of paramount importance to new manager Ange Postecoglou. As he takes charge of the team, he seeks a goalkeeper who not only possesses the necessary technical abilities but also aligns with his distinct playing philosophy.
