Ange Postecoglou backed to get rid of Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison if attitude issues arise
Tottenham Hotspur striker Richarlison could find himself out of the club if Ange Postecoglou notices any issues with the forward’s attitude.
Spurs signed the Brazil international in the summer of 2022 from Everton. He did not enjoy the best of spells at the North London side last season. The 26-year-old’s current contract at the Lilywhites runs until June 2027.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Celtic striker Frank McAvennie believes the Australian gaffer will not put up with Richarlison’s antics and will get rid of him if the forward becomes too much to handle for the gaffer.
“I think if his attitude is not right Ange will get rid of him. I do not think he suffers fools.”
The Brazilian is a fiery character. He has built a reputation for being aggressive and tenacious over the years in the English top flight. Under Antonio Conte, the striker also expressed his frustration at a lack of game time last season.
Initially, the 26-year-old made a name for himself at Watford before Everton acquired his services. At the Goodison Park side, the former Fluminense star found consistency and rhythm.
Richarlison had been a key player for the Toffees in their bid for survival in the Premier League in the 2021/22 campaign. Unfortunately, the Brazilian has struggled to get going so far at Tottenham.
Last season, he found the back of the net just once in the league for the North London side. The 26-year-old was seen as a quality cover for Harry Kane. Unfortunately, the English skipper was made to shoulder the burden of Spurs’ attack on his own.
Postecoglou brings with him a new era to Tottenham. The Australian has been handed a four-year contract at the North London side, seemingly indicating that the club is backing him for the long term.
