Barcelona are seeking €10 million from Tottenham Hotspur for Clement Lenglet
La Liga giants Barcelona are hoping to get €10 million from Tottenham Hotspur for Clement Lenglet in the ongoing transfer window, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
The France international is one of the names the Balugrana are looking to part ways with this summer. Xavi does not consider the defender part of the club’s plans going into next season.
As things stand, the Camp Nou side are looking to boost their funds with the 28-year-old’s sale. The centre-back, who spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at the North London side, is back in Catalunya for now.
Initially, Barcelona had placed a €15 million price tag on Lenglet. However, Spurs countered with €5 million. Now, the Blaugrana are prepared to meet the Lilywhites halfway and seal the defender’s permanent switch.
The Camp Nou side signed the French national in the summer of 2018 from Sevilla. However, after initially impressing at the Catalan outfit, his performances slowly deteriorated until the 28-year-old fell down the pecking order.
Xavi has several quality centre-backs at his disposal. Ronaldo Araujo is in the La Liga outfit’s ranks. They also signed former Chelsea star Andreas Christensen and Jules Kounde last summer.
As for Tottenham, the likes of Eric Dier, Ben Davies and Davinson Sanchez have not been up to the mark over the last few years. They have been inconsistent at the back for us. Cristian Romero is the only one who has shown glimpses of his talent on a regular basis at Spurs.
In the previous campaign, Lenglet slowly made a place for himself in the starting lineup at the North London side. While the French national put in some decent displays, he also made a few errors at the back.

Therefore, the centre-back does not look like the definitive answer to our defensive woes. However, for the cut-price Barcelona are looking for, the 28-year-old could evidently be a decent backup option for us.
