Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur offered chance to sign Beto

Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur have apparently been offered the chance to sign Udinese striker Beto.

This is according to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, who claim that the two clubs are yet to respond to the offer. The offer makes sense.

Real Madrid will need someone to fill in for Karim Benzema, who is now at Al-Ittihad. Spurs, meanwhile, lack competition for Harry Kane, who is himself linked with a move away from Spurs.

Kane, 29, is without a trophy in his career and has drawn interest from teams such as Manchester United. Real Madrid have signed Joseul and Spurs have Richarlison for backup.

No need for Spurs to make a move

But Joselu, 33, is only joining Real Madrid on loan while Richarlison has blown hot and cold in his first season at Spurs. He was also consistently used out wide by Antonio Conte.

Beto, 25, joined Udinese Portimonense last summer on a three-year deal (Transfermarkt). He finished the season with a modest return of 10 goals in 34 games across competitions.

Udinese wouldn’t want their star forward to leave for peanuts, which raises the question if Spurs should pursue a move for him. Perhaps they will be better off without it.

Beto hasn’t really proven himself on the big stage for a consistent period. There is no guarantee he is a success in the Premier League and that he will be worth sitting at the negotiation table with Udinese for. His release clause stands at €35million.

Spurs fans would be much, much more comfortable if the club targets a renowned name who has some experience playing in England. If not that, then they should either be evidently world-class in their abilities or boast serious statistics when it comes to scoring goals.
