Tottenham Hotspur tipped to sign five players this summer including two central defenders

Alasdair Gold, the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for football.london, believes the club will sign five players, including two centre-backs, this summer.

As things stand, the North London side are in talks with Barcelona to acquire the services of Clement Lenglet. The French national spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Lilywhites.

Also, as per the Daily Star, the North London side are close to getting a hold of the signature of Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba. It remains to be seen whether we will be able to get a deal over the line for him.

Answering questions from fans on football.london, Gold expects Tottenham to bring in at least five new players. A goalkeeper, an attacking midfielder and a young winger are also on the club’s agenda.

“The aim is at least five with the goalkeeper, two centre-backs, a central attacking midfielder and a preferably young winger.”

Hugo Lloris has been our number one for several years now. The 2018 World Cup winner has been a brilliant servant for the North London side. Unfortunately, the 36-year-old’s age seems to be catching up to him.

To that end, it seems like Spurs have the French national’s successor in place. Empoli shot-stopper Guglielmo Vicario is expected to sign for the Lilywhites soon.

As for more attacking impetus in the middle of the park, that should evidently also be a priority for Tottenham. Last season, the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Yves Bissouma and Oliver Skipp played a lot for us. However, all of them are more defensive-minded.

As for the attack, Harry Kane had to shoulder the burden up front in the previous campaign. Richarlison can be used in all three positions in the forward line. However, we lack depth out wide after the departure of Lucas Moura.

Hopefully, Daniel Levy and Co. will back Postecoglou and build a competitive squad in the ongoing transfer window. It will be interesting to see who the North London side will sign in the coming weeks.
