Tottenham open direct talks for Wolfsburg star Micky van de Ven
Tottenham Hotspur are eagerly looking to bolster their squad ahead of the upcoming season, and their sights are now set on the highly talented Dutch central defender, Micky van de Ven.
As per the trusted source Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have taken a significant step forward in their pursuit of the 22-year-old by opening direct talks with his current club, Wolfsburg. While negotiations are still ongoing, Tottenham is expected to present a verbal proposal in the near future.
Micky van de Ven himself is reportedly keen on the move, understanding the potential career growth that a switch to the English Premier League can provide. The opportunity to showcase his defensive prowess at a higher level is undoubtedly an enticing prospect for the talented youngster.
It’s no secret that Tottenham are in dire need of strengthening their defensive line, and the addition of van de Ven could be a step in the right direction. Partnering him alongside the recently acquired Cristian Romero would undoubtedly provide a formidable defensive duo.
Furthermore, apart from his defensive abilities, the 22-year-old also brings an injection of pace to the Tottenham backline, which can be invaluable in executing a high line of defence, a tactic that new manager Ange Postecoglou favours.
While van de Ven’s recovery speed can prove to be an asset for Spurs, the club also has its eyes on another talented defender, Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen. However, it appears that the Burkina Faso international may come with a higher price tag than the Dutchman.
