Graeme Bailey admits surprise in Tottenham not pushing for Max Kilman this summer
Speaking to Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, journalist Graeme Bailey admits surprise in Tottenham Hotspur not pushing for the signing of Max Kilman this summer.
The disappointing defensive performance of Tottenham Hotspur during the 2022/23 season is no secret. With a staggering 63 goals conceded in the Premier League, the Lilywhites found themselves among the teams with the leakiest defences.
It comes as no surprise then that manager Ange Postecoglou has made it abundantly clear to the board that a new centre-back is a necessity to address the team’s defensive shortcomings and Tottenham have been linked with a number of names.
One player on their radar is Max Kilman, the talented defender from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Respected journalist Alasdair Gold, in his column for Football.London, revealed that Kilman is a player Spurs are closely monitoring.
However, it is journalist Graeme Bailey who has expressed his astonishment at Tottenham’s lack of determination in their pursuit of Kilman. Speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Bailey shared his surprise at the club’s apparent reluctance to push harder for the talented Wolves defender.
“Wolves are keen on keeping Kilman, and rightfully so. He is an exceptional player, one who is on par with Levi Colwill in terms of ability. It will be a real challenge for them to retain his services.”
The journalist’s surprise stems from his belief that Kilman possesses the potential to represent England on the international stage. Bailey sees Kilman as a player of such quality that he should be on Tottenham’s priority list this summer.
Tottenham’s struggle in defence has been a recurring issue, one that needs immediate attention. Kilman’s inclusion in the squad would undoubtedly provide a significant boost to their backline.
His defensive prowess, coupled with his composure on the ball, makes him an ideal candidate to solidify the Tottenham defence. The Lilywhites, however, face stiff competition for Kilman’s services, as his reputation continues to rise.
