Real Betis are keen on signing Tottenham star Giovani Lo Celso
According to Spanish publication Mucho Deporte, Real Betis are showing a keen interest in securing the services of Tottenham’s talented midfielder, Giovani Lo Celso.
However, the Spanish club are apprehensive about their ability to meet the financial demands of such a deal. Real Betis find themselves in the market for an attacking midfielder to fill the void left by Nabil Fekir, who has been plagued by persistent injury troubles.
With Fekir’s fitness concerns casting doubt on his future contributions, Real Betis have set their sights on Giovani Lo Celso as a potential solution. The Argentine maestro already enjoys a strong bond with the club he formerly played for.
Nevertheless, the prospect of securing Lo Celso’s signature seems to be uncertain due to the financial implications. It appears that the financial strain of such an operation may render the dream of Lo Celso reuniting with Real Betis all but impossible.
Lo Celso is a talented Argentinian playmaker who has a keen eye for a pass. His ability to play balls that split the defence is what makes him a crucial cog for the national team but he has struggled in Spurs colours.
Much of it could be due to the systems he found himself in at the club. After all, when playing in possession-heavy attacking systems under Unai Emery and Quique Setien at Villarreal, Lo Celso did have a good time.
Under Ange Postecoglou, Tottenham are expected to play the brand of football that the Argentinian would love to be a part of. However, the Australian manager must see him fit for his plans.
The second problem would be for the player himself to want to stay at a club that has not exactly welcomed him with open arms. If not, Tottenham might not have any choice but to sell him.
