Nottingham Forest want Tottenham youngster Ryan Sessegnon
According to The Sun (h/t NottinghamForest. news), Nottingham Forest have set their sights on Tottenham’s young talent, Ryan Sessegnon, as they look to strengthen their squad in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Reds, led by head coach Steve Cooper, are keen on acquiring the services of the dynamic left-footed star. Sessegnon has captured the attention of Cooper, who is eager to bolster his ranks ahead of the new season.
The 23-year-old, who joined Tottenham from Fulham as a teenager in 2019 has yet to make a significant impact during his time at the North London club. However, many still believe that he possesses immense untapped potential.
One of Sessegnon’s notable attributes is his versatility. He can effectively operate in various positions on the left-hand side of the pitch. While he has predominantly played in more advanced roles throughout his career, Cooper envisions him as a perfect fit for the left-sided wing-back role at Forest.
The Forest head coach has firsthand experience working with Ryan Sessegnon, having coached him during their time together in the England under-17 setup. Cooper now hopes to reunite with the young talent at the City Ground and help him realize his full potential.
Last season proved to be a challenging one for Sessegnon, as he struggled to convince both Antonio Conte and interim manager Ryan Mason that he deserved a regular starting spot. Although he made a total of 27 appearances, only 14 of those came as starts.
One potential concern surrounding this potential deal is Sessegnon’s injury setback towards the end of last season. A hamstring problem sidelined him in February, prematurely ending his 2022/23 campaign.
Former Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, a known admirer of Sessegnon’s talents, once described him as “absolutely fantastic” during his tenure at the club. It was under Mourinho’s guidance that the young player enjoyed his most fruitful spell.
