Aston Villa were in race for Tottenham Hotspur-bound Manor Solomon
Premier League rivals Aston Villa were in the race with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Manor Solomon, but he is set to sign for the North London side.
Spurs have reached an agreement to acquire the services of the 23-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. The Israel international is set to undergo a medical before officially being unveiled as the Lilywhites’ new signing.
However, speaking to Sport 5 via Sky Sports (h/t Birmingham Live), Solomon’s agent Ben Ezra revealed that Tottenham were not the only team looking to get a hold of the forward’s signature. Villa, West Ham United and RB Leipzig also had him on their radar.
“In addition to Tottenham, Aston Villa, West Ham, and RB Leipzig wanted him as a replacement for Christopher Nkunku. In addition to Tottenham, Manor was also interested [in Leipzig]. But if you leave the Premier League, you can’t always return to it.”
In the previous campaign, the Israeli was on loan at Fulham from Shakhtar Donetsk. However, the 23-year-old got injured at the start of his spell at the Craven Cottage side.
Subsequently, Solomon missed a big chunk of last season. However, the forward did put in some decent performances for the Cottagers after returning from the sidelines.
Villa have the pull of being in a European competition. Unai Emery managed to finish seventh with the Villans, a position above us in the league table.
However, Tottenham have managed to pip them to the Israeli. The North London side have already made the signing of James Maddison from Leicester City official.
Ange Postecoglou has added creativity to his ranks this summer. In the previous campaign, the North London side did not have a lot of options in the middle of the park capable of the decisive pass in the final third of the pitch.
