Tottenham Hotspur rejected a bid of €20 million from Napoli for Tanguy Ndombele
Tottenham Hotspur have rejected a €20 million bid from Napoli for Tanguy Ndombele in the ongoing transfer window, according to L’Equipe (h/t football.london).
The France international spent the 2022/23 season on loan at the Partenopei, winning the Serie A title. While the Italian outfit had a €30 million option to make his move permanent, they did not take it up.
Now, the Naples-based club want the midfielder at a discount. However, Ange Postecoglou is an admirer of the 26-year-old. To that end, the gaffer wants to give him another opportunity in the Spurs shirt.
Tottenham signed Ndombele in the summer of 2019 when Mauricio Pochettino was still in charge. However, soon after, the Argentine manager parted ways with the club.
Subsequently, the French national played a key role in the starting lineup under Jose Mourinho. However, Antonio Conte did not have faith in the midfielder and he joined Olympique Lyon on a temporary move in January 2022.
Then last summer, Napoli came knocking for the 26-year-old’s services. However, he was a bit-part player for them as Luciano Spalletti’s team thrived in Serie A in the previous campaign.
Postecoglou has a pedigree of playing an attacking brand of football, unlike the likes of Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo, and Conte. The Australian manager transformed his Celtic team into winners.
Ndombele has immense talent. However, previous managers have been unable to get the best out of him on the North London side. Although, the French national is evidently not the most hard-working player on the pitch.

It will be interesting to see how the new gaffer will fit the midfielder into his plans. Hopefully, the 26-year-old will repay the faith if the former Celtic head coach does end up retaining him.
