Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg open to Tottenham Hotspur exit to play UCL football amidst Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich interest
Tottenham Hotspur star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is open to parting ways with the club this summer to play Champions League football next season, according to football.london.
The Denmark international does not seem to fit new manager Ange Postecoglou’s system. As a result, the midfielder has been tipped to leave the North London side in the ongoing transfer window.
Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have the 27-year-old on their radar. As things stand, his current contract at Spurs runs until June 2025.
To that end, Hojbjerg is willing to make a move in the coming weeks in search of UCL football. Tottenham will not be playing any European competition next season after finishing eighth in the Premier League table.
Spurs signed the Danish national in the summer of 2020 from Southampton. The midfielder previously played for Bayern before moving to the Saints.
He has immense experience in the Premier League and has been pivotal to the North London side’s plans over the years. In the previous campaign, the 27-year-old added an attacking edge to his game and scored some important goals for us.
Our other options in the midfield include the likes of Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp, Rodrigo Bentancur, Tanguy Ndombele and James Maddison. Therefore, we will need to add more quality in depth if we part ways with Hojbjerg.
Bissouma has not lived up to expectations since moving from Brighton & Hove Albion. As for Bentancur, he missed a big chunk of the previous campaign with a serious injury. It remains to be seen when the Uruguayan will be able to return.

Therefore, for now, it would evidently be wise for us to keep a hold of Hojbjerg. The Dane is one of our leaders on the pitch. But whether Postecoglou will want to move him on remains to be seen.
