Tottenham fear PL rivals could hijack summer deal for Bundesliga star

Tottenham fear Liverpool might hijack Micky van de Ven deal

According to The Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are growing increasingly concerned that Liverpool might swoop in and snatch their long-pursued target, Micky van de Ven, from under their noses.

Just a few days ago, It was suggested that a conversation between Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and their sporting director Jorg Schmadtke led the Reds to “cool their interest” in the 22-year-old. Encouraging news for Spurs, indeed.

While there is still a discrepancy of £5m between the valuations placed on the Dutchman by both Spurs and Wolfsburg, Tottenham remain confident that a deal will eventually be struck. However, new developments have arisen.

The Evening Standard’s latest update has injected an air of anxiety into the Tottenham camp. They are acutely aware that Liverpool could make a late, audacious move to hijack their pursuit of the Wolfsburg star.

The fear of losing out on a player they have been actively pursuing has Tottenham officials on high alert. Consequently, Tottenham are exploring other potential options to bolster their left centre-back position.

One player catching their attention is Chelsea’s promising young talent, Levi Colwill. It’s worth noting that Colwill is also highly regarded by Liverpool’s decision-makers, adding another layer of intrigue to the situation.

If Spurs are genuinely concerned about Liverpool’s late advances, they may be compelled to expedite their approach for Van de Ven, rather than waiting on the progress of negotiations with Bayer Leverkusen for Edmond Tapsoba.

As the transfer saga surrounding Van de Ven reaches its climax, Spurs will be acutely aware of the need to act swiftly and decisively to ensure their top defensive target doesn’t slip away.

Only time will tell how this transfer battle unfolds. Tottenham Hotspur will be keeping a watchful eye on developments, cautiously hoping that their pursuit of Micky van de Ven remains on track, undeterred by the lurking threat of Liverpool hijacking their aspirations.
