Wayne Rooney urges Tottenham ace Harry Kane to make Manchester United switch
According to The Athletic, Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has urged Harry Kane to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The English skipper is in the final year of his contract at N-17 and is yet to pen fresh terms. We potentially risk losing our best asset for free next summer if an agreement is not found by then.
Kane is one of the best number nines in world football and at 29 is at the peak of his powers. The striker should have no shortage of options should he decide to seek a new challenge this summer.
Weighing in on the issue, Rooney believes Kane is an ideal fit for Manchester United. The Red Devils lack an infallible goalscorer and the Spurs ace certainly fits the bill. But then, one could argue that is obvious given that Kane is amongst the finest in the game at finding the back of the net.
“Harry Kane would be the ideal player, for me, to go and join Manchester United.”
Rooney goes on to suggest that Kane is being held at Tottenham against his will. The MLS boss will do well to remember that no team wants to lose their star player and will do their best to retain them. Tottenham are no different and have little reason to give into the demands of any player who is under contract.
“It looks like he’s being held as a prisoner at Tottenham! It looks very difficult for him to get out of there.”
Kane has a right to consider his options given our inability to secure silverware. Several of the 29-year-old’s English teammates have gone on to win trophies while he has been left behind on that aspect.
The English ace is unlikely to force a move away but remains open to a summer exit. As things stand, Bayern Munich are the ones who are showing the most interest, having had two bids rejected for Kane.

The chances of Daniel Levy sanctioning Kane’s exit to a Premier League rival is highly unlikely. Rooney is better off trying to focus on his flagging managerial career than trying to unsettle England’s all-time goalscorer whose future, at least for now, is in north London.
