Yves Bissouma is delighted to work under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur star Yves Bissouma is delighted to be able to work under Ange Postecoglou, who was appointed the club’s manager this summer.
The Australian head coach was given the reins at the North London side after a successful stint at Celtic. In Scotland, the 57-year-old spent two fruitful years and won several trophies with the Glasgow-based club.
As for Bissouma, we signed him last summer from Brighton & Hove Albion for a potential fee of £35 million. Unfortunately, the Mali international was unable to perform at his best in the previous campaign.
Speaking to the media via the Daily Mail, the 26-year-old expressed his happiness at Postecoglou being the new Spurs head coach. The Australian has made himself a calming figure at the club.
“He gives us confidence. He’s like a dad, uncle, friend for us so we’re happy to be with him and we’re trying to do what he wants.”
In the previous campaign, Antonio Conte was in Tottenham’s dugout. The Italian has built a pedigree of being a ruthless manager over the years. Under the former Inter Milan head coach, the team looked disjointed.
Bissouma failed to make a mark on the North London side under Conte. The Italian did not count on the midfielder a lot. Injuries hampered the Mali international as well. He ended up making 28 appearances in all competitions in the 2022/23 term.
However, the 26-year-old seems to have his confidence back with the arrival of Postecoglou. The former Brighton star played the first 45 minutes in our opening pre-season friendly against West Ham United on 18 July in Australia.
Bissouma shone against the Hammers despite our poor showing in defence. The Lilywhites had a two-goal deficit going into the break. We managed to equalise in the second half. However, the match ended in a 3-2 victory for David Moyes’ team.
