Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane given Lionel Messi example amidst PSG transfer interest
Former Tottenham Hotspur ace Jamie O’Hara has given Harry Kane the example of Lionel Messi amidst interest from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in him.
As things stand, the England international’s current contract at the North London side will expire in the summer of 2024. To that end, Bayern Munich and the Parisians are looking to acquire his services. However, the 29-year-old has ruled out the French champions as an option.
Speaking to Grosvenor Casino (h/t football.london), O’Hara is also not too keen to see Kane playing in Ligue 1. The ex-midfielder cited the examples of Neymar and Messi wanting out of the club.
“Why on earth would he go to PSG? He’s not going to want to go and play in a farmers’ league. Everyone has left, Neymar wants out, Lionel Messi has left, Kylian Mbappe is pulling his hair out and wants to go to Real Madrid.”
Messi left the Parisians this summer after his deal at the Parc des Princes side concluded. The 2022 World Cup-winning Argentine is now in the MLS with Inter Miami.
As a result, the French champions have just two established attackers in their ranks namely Neymar and Mbappe. They have also signed Marco Asensio. However, it is not a surprise to see them being linked with the English skipper.
The 29-year-old has established himself as one of the best goalscorers in the Premier League. Over the years, the striker has consistently found the back of the net for Tottenham.
Unfortunately, trophies have eluded Kane at the North London side. We have now gone 14 years without winning any silverware. Despite the English national’s best efforts, Spurs have not won a title for some time now.
PSG have dominated Ligue 1 for the past decade. However, the English top flight is arguably miles ahead of the French league when it comes to competition and recognition. The Parisians have also struggled to get their hands on the Champions League despite boasting a host of talent.

Therefore, O’Hara’s sentiments are understandable. However, it remains to be seen whether Kane will end up leaving Tottenham for a different team in the coming months.
