Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag coy on Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, has refused to speak on the speculation around Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane this summer.
The Red Devils are interested in the England international to bolster their attack in the ongoing transfer window. To that end, the 29-year-old is the Old Trafford side’s top target.
However, speaking to the media via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Ten Hag dismissed the question regarding United having Kane on their radar.
“I don’t talk about specific players who are under contract at another club.”
At the moment, the English skipper is in the final year of his contract at Tottenham. As a result, a number of teams are keeping tabs on the striker’s situation at the North London side.
For now, the Red Devils feel Daniel Levy will not sell the 29-year-old in the coming weeks. However, Bayern Munich are pushing to get a deal done and acquire his services from Spurs. The Bavarians have had multiple bids rejected so far.
For now, the Old Trafford side are looking at alternatives to add reinforcements up front. With Anthony Martial the only natural striker in their ranks right now, a number nine is evidently a requirement for the Manchester-based club.
As for Tottenham, Kane has been our talisman for several years now. The English national has consistently found the back of the net for us since breaking into the first-team setup in the 2014/15 term.
In the previous campaign, he was the only reliable forward at our disposal. The 29-year-old started in every Premier League game for us last season, scoring 30 goals.
