Strasbourg Alsace beat Tottenham Hotspur in race to sign Emanuel Emgha from Sturm Graz
Tottenham Hotspur have been beaten by Strasbourg Alsace in the race to sign Emanuel Emegha from Sturm Graz this summer, according to French outlet L’Equipe.
The Ligue 1 outfit will pay the Austrian outfit €12 million to acquire the services of the 20-year-old in the ongoing transfer window. Subsequently, the striker is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the Stade de la Meinau side.
Patrik Veira, who is now the head coach of Strasbourg after leaving Crystal Palace last season, is an admirer of Emegha. Premier League rivals Chelsea have also been keeping tabs on the youngster.
However, it is the Ligue 1 outfit who have managed to pip Spurs, as well as Serie A giants AC Milan, to get a hold of the 20-year-old’s signature. The Holland national has emerged as a promising talent over the years.
Emegha made his name at Sparta Rotterdam in the Netherlands before signing for Royal Antwerp in January 2022. But after failing to get opportunities at the Belgian outfit, the youngster left the club.
Subsequently, the Holland national moved to Sturm Graz last summer. In the 2022/23 term, the 20-year-old made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Austrian outfit, scoring 10 goals and providing five assists.
At Tottenham, the forward line is stacked at the moment. Harry Kane has been our go-to striker for several years now. We added Richarlison to our ranks last summer to provide cover up front.
On the other hand, Son Heung-min is also in our ranks. While the South Korean struggled last season, he has showcased immense quality in the past. Spurs also have Dejan Kulusevski in their ranks. James Maddison and Manor Solomon have been signed recently as well.

Emegha has showcased decent potential over the last year. However, the Holland national will arguably have an easier time getting game time and developing at Strasbourg for the time being.
