Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Chelsea star Conor Gallagher ‘leading nowhere’
Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is apparently going nowhere ahead of the new season.
The English midfielder enjoyed a superb 2021-22 season on loan with Crystal Palace, where he won their Player of the Year award. Chelsea recognised his talents and made him a regular starter last season.
Despite the presence of world-class players like Mateo Kovacic, N’Golo Kante and Jorginho (for the first half of the season, Gallagher made 45 appearances across competitions for them.
Spurs have emerged as a potential contender for the Englishman’s signature. But journalist Dean Jones believes their interest as of now is pointless. He exclusively told GiveMeSport:
“Conor Gallagher does not want to leave Chelsea so interest from Spurs, West Ham, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle is all leading nowhere at this moment in time.
“This is a lad totally committed to establishing himself at the Bridge and while he will of course be open-minded further down the road if his path is totally backed, he’ll probably be in the starting line-up at the beginning of the season because there are no other options
What next for Spurs and Gallagher?
This looks like a transfer we are better off not pursuing. Not only is it a Chelsea player — one of our biggest rivals — but he is also courted by other teams.
His age (23), contract (two more years) and the fact that he is a homegrown player will only add to his valuation. West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Everton and Newcastle United can also afford him playing time.
For us, it would be hard to see where he fits in Ange Postecoglou’s midfield if Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma stay here.

It would be better to try and get the most out of players like Harry Winks, Giovani Lo Celso and Oliver Skipp before going for a player our arch-rivals may not be ready to sell in the first place.
