Barcelona in secret talks with Premier League club for Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie
An unnamed Premier League team are in talks with Barcelona to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Franck Kessie this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Express).
The Blaugrana are secretly working on the Ivory Coast international’s departure in the ongoing transfer window. A team from the English top flight is in direct contact with the Spanish giants to acquire the services of the midfielder.
As things stand, the Catalan outfit are ‘discreetly’ operating to find a solution for the 26-year-old. To that end, Spurs are one of the teams in the PL who are interested in the midfielder.
Apart from the North London side, a number of other clubs also have Kessie on their radar. Premier League rivals Liverpool have been linked with the Ivorian in the past. Juventus are also eyeing the former AC Milan star.
Barcelona signed the midfielder in the summer of 2022 as a free agent. The 26-year-old established himself as a quality talent at the San Siro side before going to the La Liga outfit.
However, Kessie has struggled to make a place for himself in Xavi’s team. The Blaugrana have the likes of Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi and former Manchester City star Ilkay Gundogan at their disposal.
At Tottenham, the engine room possesses impressive talent as well. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was a key player for us last season. However, the Danish national could part ways with the North London side in the coming weeks.
Ange Postecoglou also has Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso in his ranks, who recently returned from their respective loans. Yves Bissouma, Oliver Skipp and Rodrigo Bentancur are also still at the club.

Kessie has not had the best of years, but he still has a lot of quality. However, it remains to be seen who Barcelona are negotiating with at the moment for the Ivorian’s transfer.
