Darren Ambrose urges Tottenham Hotspur to sign Ivan Toney
Speaking to TalkSport, former English midfielder Darren Ambrose has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign talented English striker Ivan Toney as a possible replacement for Harry Kane.
Tottenham still do not know if they will have Harry Kane next season. The talented striker has flirted with a move to Bayern Munich (h/t Daily Mail) for quite some time but has a Daniel Levy-sized obstacle standing in his way.
Kane being the player that he is, is extremely valuable to any team that he plays for. There are not many players in the world who are better than the Tottenham superstar and in many ways, we are lucky to have him.
As much as Tottenham don’t want to sell him, they know that they will have to prepare a mitigation strategy should it be needed. Thus, the London club has started striker-hunting in the market.
There are a number of prospective candidates who can replace Kane should he leave the N17 but not many of them will be able to fill his gigantic shoes. Thus, Tottenham – both the fans and the club need to be realistic with their expectations.
One player who has been touted as a potential replacement for Tottenham is Brentford striker Ivan Toney. Ambrose has claimed that the English striker is ideal for the club and that they must make a move for him.
“Someone mentioned it last week, go and sign Ivan Toney. I know he can’t play until January, but you’ve got a proven Premier League goalscorer that can come into the team in January. 20-plus goals again.”
The fact that he is on-ban aside, there are not many profiles in world football who are as close to Kane’s as Toney’s is. A terrific goalscorer who is much more than just that, Tottenham would love to sign him.
Yes, if Kane leaves this summer, Ivan Toney will not be available until January. Despite this, if the club can try to somehow cross the next few months, they’ll have one of the best strikers in the Premier League at their disposal.

The most ideal solution would be to have Kane stay at the club. If not, it does not get much better than Toney. Tottenham must keep this in mind.
