Fabrizio Romano reveals why the Edmond Tapsoba pursuit is proving difficult for Tottenham
Speaking exclusively to GiveMeSport, popular Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed why he thinks the pursuit of Edmond Tapsoba could turn out to be difficult for Tottenham Hotspur.
Romano claims that while Tottenham still want to sign the talented young defender, they need the money to make it happen. Right now, it might be difficult to sign Tapsoba without a big sale for the club.
This is where Harry Kane comes in. If Tottenham sell the English superstar to Bayern Munich like he so wants them to, there is absolutely no doubt that they will have all the money in the world and can sign Tapsoba.
However, another caveat would appear. If Tottenham sell Kane, a significant chunk of the money they get would go towards signing a replacement for him but it would still leave them in a better position for Edmond Tapsoba.
The defence desperately needs reinforcements and there aren’t many better options out there in the transfer market than Tapsoba. Obviously, he is not the only name on the list and there are defensive options.
Speaking about the situation surrounding Tapsoba and Tottenham, here is what Romano had to say
“Tottenham are still in contact with people close to the player at Bayer Leverkusen. And so, I think it could depend also on Harry Kane. In the case Harry Kane leaves, and they have big money to invest in the market, Tapsoba could be realistic, otherwise it could be difficult.”
Irrespective of what the financial situation and the future of Harry Kane is, Tottenham need to sign a central defender as a priority. That does not mean that they sign anyone they get and they must wait for the right opportunity.
If Tapsoba lies outside our transfer budget, then we must start exploring other options. Just waiting around is not going to be helpful for anyone and we need to start being more proactive in our decision making.
