Harry Kane decides to leave Tottenham Hotspur and join Bayern Munich

According to an exclusive from David Ornstein for The Athletic (subscription required), Harry Kane has decided to leave Tottenham Hotspur and sign for Bayern Munich with personal terms in place.

If all things go well, Kane will sign a four-year deal with the German champions. This has come hours after Tottenham accepted an offer worth around €100m for the 30-year-old.

The England captain wanted his future resolved before the opening Premier League game against Brentford on Sunday. Once the club agreed on the offer made by Bayern, it was up to him to decide whether to stay or leave.

And as it stands, the striker has decided to leave the club. He is waiting for a green light before travelling to Germany and carrying out the medical tests ahead of the contract signing.

This feels like the end of an era. Although Tottenham did not win a trophy during his time here, the club’s value and scale went ten-fold with the goals and performances Kane put in every season.

The 30-year-old started out as a youth player at Spurs 14 years ago before making his senior debut during the 2011/12 season. He started playing regular football from the 2014/15 season onwards and never looked back from then.

If we look at his numbers for the club, the England captain has 280 goals and 64 assists in 430 appearances in all competitions. 213 of those games came in the Premier League.

It was back in May he usurped Wayne Rooney to be second in the list of top Premier League goal scorers. Alan Shearer is at the top with 260. That record won’t be broken now because Kane is on his way to Germany.

We wish him the best there and hope that he wins a lot of trophies there to balance out the mediocrity he had to deal with at this club.
