Tottenham Hotspur are now actively looking to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg
According to the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are now actively looking to sell exit-linked Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg amongst other out-of-favour players.
Harry Kane has left the club and this leaves the North London club scrambling for replacements. However, it is being claimed that they need to raise more money before they can move for their striker targets.
One player who has been continually linked with an exit from the N17 ever since Ange Postecoglou became the manager is Hojbjerg who is said to attract interest from Atletico Madrid in Spain.
The Australian tactician apparently does not rate Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (28) and would be willing to see him go. That is a surprise, given the player’s work-rate, diligence and the fact that he has played in 145 club games since joining us in the summer of 2020.
While he is limited technically, he is a smart defensive midfielder who excels at shielding the defenders and kick-starting counter-attacks. However, the two clubs have been unable to reach a consensus and the Dane still finds himself at the club.
Other names on the list who Tottenham are looking to ship out include Hugo Lloris, Tanguy Ndombele and Davinson Sanchez. If the club can raise some funds from these sales, they can fuel their transfer ambitions.
Hence Tottenham have actively started looking at opportunities to sell Hojbjerg. He is one player who can earn the club a significant fee and that could be invested elsewhere in the market.
It remains to be seen who Tottenham have in mind to replace Kane. With the season starting this weekend in most leagues, clubs would get more and more reluctant to sell their players as it would be difficult to sign a replacement.
Ideally, Tottenham would have wanted this Kane saga to get over earlier as that would have given them enough time to secure their replacement before the season started. However, that is not the case and we have to work with what we have.
