Liverpool and Crystal Palace cool interest in Tottenham Hotspur target Perr Schuurs
According to local outlet Toro.it, Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of Perr Schuurs with Liverpool and Crystal Palace cooling their interest in his services.
The Dutchman moved to Torino last summer and quickly proved to be an able replacement for Gleison Bremer who moved to Juventus. He has quickly developed into one of the best centre-backs in the league and continues to attract attention from the Premier League.
Crystal Palace and Liverpool were linked with him earlier this summer but both clubs appear to now be looking elsewhere. Despite the 2023/24 season kicking off, neither team are closer to landing the Dutchman this summer.
This is good news for Tottenham who are also keen on the 23-year-old. Spurs already brought in one Dutch centre-back in Micky van de Ven this summer.
Pairing him with Schuurs with Cristian Romero already in tow should give Ange Postecoglou strength in depth in the position.
Tottenham had a poor defensive record last season and will need to tighten the backline this time around. With Harry Kane no more at the club to bail us out, it is imperative more than ever to be rigid at the back.
Postecoglou’s style relies on a free-flowing attack but does not pay the same attention to maintaining a stingy defence. Balance is necessary for us to thrive under the Australian tactician.

Torino are preparing for life with the Dutchman this season but remain open to a deal. They are, however, unwilling to lower their asking price and will seek around €40 million for his services. With just weeks left before the summer transfer window shuts, it remains to be seen if Tottenham will make a late punt
