Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing Kyogo Furuhashi as Harry Kane replacement

According to the Express, Tottenham are eyeing Kyogo Furuhashi as a Kane replacement, and while the idea might be tantalizing for Spurs fans, it is not something that Celtic will want.

This Japanese forward has emerged as a beacon of talent since his acquisition by Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, back when he was the manager of the Scottish club. His performances under the Australian were splendid.

In Scotland, 28-year-old Kyogo Furuhashi‘s prowess has been nothing short of astonishing. His impact has been most vividly etched on the score sheets, with 56 goals and 11 assists in just 85 appearances for Celtic.

Rewarded with the Scottish Players’ Player of the Year accolade, Furuhashi was an integral part of Celtic’s triumphant and impressive domestic treble under the guidance of Postecoglou in the past season.

However, with the speculation around this potential move, it’s clear that any attempt to woo Furuhashi away from his beloved Celtic would carry a twinge of trepidation for Postecoglou. This manager, once a Celtic figurehead himself, understands the deep emotional resonance the club holds for its fans.

In football though, there is no room for emotions and if Tottenham and Postecoglou think Furuhashi is the guy, we must try and sign him. The striker might also love the idea of working under Postecoglou again.

Harry Kane was a goal machine for Tottenham and it would be stupid to expect anyone who comes in to replicate that kind of astronomic numbers immediately. However, Furuhashi knows where the back of the net is.

Having already played under Postecoglou, he might not take time to adapt to his intricate system. This might mean that Furuhashi would be able to adapt quicker than some of the other targets.
