Lazio in talks with Hugo Lloris as Tottenham Hotspur set to release shot-stopper

Hugo Lloris is in talks with Lazio over a potential move this summer as Tottenham Hotspur have agreed to release him, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The French national has given the go-ahead to move to Italy. To that end, the North London side are willing to part ways with the 2018 World Cup winner in the ongoing transfer window.

As things stand, the shot-stopper is in discussions with the Rome-based club regarding personal terms, as some details still need to be fixed. The 36-year-old could end up signing a two-year deal with the Biancocelesti.

Tottenham signed Lloris in the summer of 2012 from Olympique Lyon. Subsequently, the veteran goalkeeper has spent over a decade as the first choice in between the sticks for the North London side.

Unfortunately, the French national has been unable to lift any silverware during his time at the club. Spurs have now gone 14 years without a trophy. Hopefully, Ange Postecoglou will be able to change that trend.

Lloris has been a loyal servant to Spurs over the years. Unfortunately, over the years, the shot-stopper’s powers have been on the decline. In the previous campaign, the French national was error-prone and was not a commanding presence at the back.

This summer, Tottenham ended up signing Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli. The 26-year-old looks to be the new number one at the North London side and made his competitive debut for Spurs in the 2-2 draw with Brentford on 13 August.

At the moment, Fraser Forster is on the sidelines. Brandon Austin was on the bench as the backup goalkeeper for the North London side at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Therefore, it looks like Lloris’ time at Spurs is coming to an end. Whether the French national will be at Lazio by the end of the ongoing transfer window remains to be seen.
