Real Sociedad close to agreeing personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon
Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon is close to agreeing personal terms with Real Sociedad ahead of a potential switch, according to Spanish outlet Relevo.
The left-back is an option for the La Liga outfit to bolster their backline in the ongoing transfer window. While the San Sebastian-based club are also interested in Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney, a move now looks unlikely after the injury to Jurrien Timber.
As a result, the Reale Arena side are focusing on other alternative targets. To that end, they have already gotten in touch with Spurs’ 26-year-old defender. But they will still have to come to an agreement with the North London side.
La Real are looking to get Reguilon on loan with an option to buy. The left-back still has two years left on his current contract. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether Tottenham will come to a consensus with the La Liga outfit.
Spurs signed the Spain international in the summer of 2020 from Real Madrid. The defender made his way through the youth ranks at Los Blancos. Then the full-back caught a lot of people’s attention during his temporary stint at Sevilla.
Subsequently, the North London side came knocking for Reguilon’s signature. Unfortunately, the defender has failed to make a big enough impact during his time at the Lilywhites.
In the previous campaign, the Spaniard was loaned out to Atletico Madrid. However, Diego Simeone did not seem to trust the left-back. Injuries did not help his cause at Los Rojiblancos either.
Reguilon was left out of the squad for Tottenham’s opening fixture of the season against Brentford in the Premier League. Ange Postecoglou relied on Destiny Udogie. The Australian manager also has Ben Davies at his disposal.
