Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make an offer to Gent for striker Gift Orban
Tottenham Hotspur are yet to make an offer to acquire the services of Gift Orban from Gent in the ongoing transfer window.
Spurs are seemingly in need of a new number nine following the departure of Harry Kane. The England international had been our talisman for several years but has moved to Bayern Munich this summer.
Speaking exclusively to GIVEMESPORT, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the North London side have made contact with the Nigerian. However, the Lilywhites have not made a proposal for the 21-year-old so far.
“For Orban, they had some contacts on the player’s side. They pursued the player and had positive contacts because Orban is keen on a potential move to Premier League football and an important club like Tottenham. But, at the moment, there is still no official bid.”
Orban made his way through Norway in 2022, singing for Stabaek. Subsequently, after impressing in Oslo, Gent came knocking for the striker’s signature in January 2023.
The Nigerian made an instant impact at the Belgian outfit, scoring 20 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for them. In the ongoing campaign, the forward has been electric as well, finding the back of the net six times in six matches.
Orban has showcased his prolificity on a consistent basis. However, a move to the Premier League is a different prospect altogether. Whether the Nigerian will be able to cope with the rigours of the English top flight is difficult to ascertain as of now.
Tottenham relied on Richarlison to play as the number in the opening two matches of the season. The Brazil international has an underwhelming debut campaign after signing from Everton last summer.
Unfortunately, the 26-year-old has failed to make an impact so far under Ange Postecoglou as well. Against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United, the forward barely contributed anything to the games.
