Real Sociedad discard Tottenham Hotspur full-back Sergio Reguilon after Kiran Tierney deal
Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon is no longer of interest to Real Sociedad as they are set to sign Kieran Tierney from Arsenal, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
The Scotland international is set to undergo his medical at the La Liga outfit soon and officially join the club from the Gunners in the ongoing transfer window.
La Real has shown interest in Spurs’ Spanish defender this summer. The Reale Arena side had been in protracted discussions with the North London side for the 26-year-old. However, in the end, a deal failed to materialise.
Tierney is set to sign for a team that will be playing in the Champions League this season. The 26-year-old signed for Arsenal in the summer of 2019 and had become a key player for them.
However, with the addition of Oleksander Zincheko in the summer of 2022 to Mikel Arteta’s team, the Scottish national lost his place in the team. In the current campaign, the left-back has not been handed minutes despite the former Manchester City star’s absence.
As for Reguilon, he has been on Tottenham’s books since 2020. The defender signed for the North London side from Real Madrid. However, he has been unable to live up to expectations.
After being given opportunities for two years at Spurs, the Spaniard was shipped off on loan to Atletico Madrid for the 2022/23 term. However, the full-back hardly got any minutes under Diego Simeone.
Reguilon featured for Tottenham during pre-season. However, it does not look like the defender in Ange Postecoglou’s plans. The Australian has counted on Destiny Udogie at the start of the season. Ben Davies is also at the gaffer’s disposal.

With a move to La Real collapsing, it remains to be seen where Reguilon’s future will take him. The Spaniard is evidently surplus to requirements at the North London side and it would be best for him to part ways with the club.
