Leeds United are seeking a permanent solution for Tottenham Hotspur outcast

Leeds United eyeing permanent transfer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence is attracting interest from Leeds United in the ongoing transfer window, according to reports via Leeds Live.

The Peacocks, who were relegated to the Championship after last season, have been linked with a move for the English national. As things stand, the West Yorkshire-based club are looking to acquire his services on a permanent basis.

Instead of making a move to loan the 23-year-old from the North London side, Leeds are determined to purchase the right-back from Spurs.

Tottenham signed Spence in the summer of 2022 from Middlesbrough for £20 million. The North London side got a hold of his signature after the defender’s temporary spell at Nottingham Forest.

However, the English national hardly got any opportunities under Antonio Conte. He ended up making just six appearances in all competitions for us in the 2022/23 term, most of which came as substitutes in the final minutes of matches. Subsequently, the right-back joined Stade Rennais on loan in January 2023 and did well.

But Spence looks to be surplus to requirements at Spurs. Ange Postecoglou started with Emerson Royal against Brentford. The Brazilian found the back of the net in the 2-2 draw.

But the gaffer counted on Pedro Porro in the 2-0 win over Manchester United. The former Sporting CP star put in an exceptional performance versus the Red Devils.

Leeds have already taken Joe Rodon from Tottenham. The centre-back joined the Championship outfit on a temporary move recently. It remains to be seen whether the Peacocks will sign the former Middlesbrough star as well from us.

Spence has failed to live up to the mark at the North London side. But will Spurs get rid of the English national who had shown immense promise at Forest just after a year? Only time will tell.
