Ben Jacobs says Tottenham need to be wary of Saudi interest for Son Heung-min next summer

Speaking to TalkSport popular journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur need to be wary of interest in club captain Son Heung-min from Saudi Arabia next summer.

The veteran Tottenham player has been handed over the armband after Hugo Lloris lost his number-one spot. Ideally, it would have gone to Harry Kane but the Englishman left for Bayern Munich.

Arguably Tottenham’s best player over the last few years along with Harry Kane, Son seems to be coming back to this very best. The South Korean bagged a hat trick against Burnley last weekend playing in the number nine role.

Tottenham never signed a replacement for Harry Kane and it is widely expected that Son Heung-min and Richalison will share the striker duties this season. If the performance against Burnley is anything to go by then the South Korean has to spot nailed down for the time being.

Son really seemed at home in this new role. Considering Richarlison’s continuous struggles to hit the levels that he showed at Everton and for the Brazil national team, there are not many options better than the South Korean at the time being.

Speaking about the player here is what Ben Jacobs had to say about potential Saudi offers next summer

“De Bruyne is a possibility. Son is a possibility. Salah will be a possibility again if he doesn’t join in the next few days and no doubt there’ll be a few younger, surprise names. It will slow down in the next few windows but I think the Saudi Pro League feels like it’s here to stay but European teams are going to have to come to terms with that.”

Tottenham will be hoping that Son can continue in the same manner throughout the current season. If the club must not feel the effects of Harry Kane’s departure then Son will have to step up and assume the role of the main goal scorer.

Ange Postecoglou will be hoping that the club captain will lead from the front with respect to his performances. At his best, there are not many players who can compete with the South Korean for efficiency in front of goal.
