Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou explains what excites him about Destiny Udogie

Speaking in an interview as quoted by Football. London, Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has explained what excites him a lot about Italian youngster Destiny Udogie.

Ange Postecoglou, the man tasked with ushering in a new era at Tottenham Hotspur, is making waves in North London. His innovative approach to the game has breathed fresh life into the team, and two players, in particular, have caught the eye this season – Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie.

Destiny Udogie, the Italian left-back, has emerged as a success story. After a loan spell at Udinese, Udogie returned to Tottenham with a point to prove and boy, hasn’t he taken his chance!

Speaking about what he felt about Udogie, here is what the Australian manager had to say

“When I got the role, I had a look at all the players who were out on loan last year, and Destiny was one of them. I really liked his profile. Physically, he’s got outstanding attributes, but he obviously played a different style of football, often used as an attacking wing-back.”

Udogie’s adaptability and work ethic have shone through. He made a significant impact in Serie A, a league renowned for its toughness. At just 20 years old, Udogie has already faced formidable challenges defensively and displayed great composure.

Last weekend, Udogie faced off against Bukayo Saka of Arsenal, improving as the game progressed and eventually dominating his flank. This Saturday, another stern test awaits as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah comes to town.

Postecoglou’s ability to seamlessly integrate new and often young players into his team is a testament to his managerial prowess. Players like Pedro Porro and Pape Matar Sarr have also thrived under his guidance after mixed first seasons at the club.

As Postecoglou takes Tottenham on a new course, he acknowledges that uncertainty looms for everyone involved. “We’re all feeling the same,” he noted, emphasizing that he, too, is part of this journey. His unwavering belief in his vision and his commitment to providing a framework for his players to flourish are his guiding principles.

More Tottenham Hotspur

What Postecoglou is doing with Tottenham is absolutely genius. It baffles one to think that he did not move to a bigger club earlier in his career. Regardless, we are reaping the rewards and we are not complaining.
