How much Tottenham Hotspur can actually earn from Bayern Munich’s signing of Harry Kane
It feels like ages ago now that Tottenham Hotspur legend Harry Kane actually left the club for Bayern Munich, bidding adieu to a place where he spent 19 years of his illustrious career and became the player that he is today.
In reality though, it has hardly been it has hardly been a couple of months since the English superstar left the N17. Since then, both the player and the club have moved only in one direction and that is upwards.
We often talk about marriages that are made in heaven. Harry Kane leaving Tottenham Hotspur feels like a divorce made in heaven if something like that actually exists. Ah well, let’s just assume it does.
Kane has grown from strength to strength at Bayern Munich. He has needed absolutely no adaptation time in Germany, hitting the ground running and has nine goals and five assists in just 10 games for the Bavarian giants.
Even the most ardent of Tottenham fans would have been forgiven for thinking that their club would struggle in the absence of Harry Kane, especially considering they had not signed a striker. However, Ange Postecoglou has rubbished all such fears.
It has now emerged according to Bayern honorary president Hoeness that their bid which made Daniel Levy agree to sell his star striker was worth just £82m, as he revealed to BR24 (h/t the Sun).
The catch though is the fact that this fee could rise to £104m when you factor in add-ons. Judging by the pace at which Kane has started his life in Munich, it won’t be long enough before Tottenham see most of them triggered.
That amount of money for a player who had just a year left on his contract is unheard of. The fact that Tottenham find themselves first in the Premier League table after all this is just the icing on the cake.
