James Maddison is sold on the talents of Tottenham Hotspur teammate Destiny Udogie
James Maddison and Destiny Udogie both arrived at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium earlier this summer and have very quickly endeared themselves to the Spurs faithful.
Both players have enjoyed instrumental runs that have aided Tottenham’s rise to the top of the Premier League standings. They say quality recognises quality and Maddison has given a positive appraisal of Udogie’s abilities as a footballer.
The 20-year-old looks at home in the English Premier League and has taken to the demanding style like a fish to water. To say that he has transformed the position for Tottenham would be an understatement
Maddison appears awestruck by his new teammate, lavishing generous praise on his performances. Given that the Englishman has shared the field with the likes of Reece James, Kyle Walker and Trent Alexander-Arnold, one can agree that he can identify talent.
“Destiny is just a beast, man. He’s so good.”
According to football.london, Maddison confirms that Udogie is still working on his role under Ange Postecoglou. It is truly exciting to think what the Italian can develop into once he is completely familiar with the Spurs’ system.
“He’s actually better on the ball and he can take the ball and dribble in the middle of the pitch and open it up for us. He’s got good receiving skills and he’s so powerful and so good.”
A left-back, Udogie is also capable of playing further upfield. Strong in the tackle and confident on the ball, he has all the tools needed for a modern-day full-back. Having earned his maiden Italian senior call-up this month, he continues to go from strength to strength.
Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham stint might have ended in controversy, but the Italian did the club a huge favour by moving for Udogie in 2022. Signing him in advance and letting him stay on at Udinese Calcio on loan for a season has been worth it.
