Ledley King praises Ange Postecoglou for bringing the fun back at Tottenham Hotspur
Ange Postecoglou was a brilliant appointment for Tottenham Hotspur last summer and is quickly developing into a cult hero of sorts in North London.
The 58-year-old has taken Spurs to the summit of the Premier League standings heading into the October international break. After a long time, Tottenham fans have something to celebrate and also hope that their luck has finally turned a corner.
The club has not seen this level of optimism coursing through their veins since Mauricio Pochettino was in charge. While the Argentine’s spell at the N-17 ended trophyless and in tears, there is hope that Postecoglou can succeed where the now Chelsea boss failed.
One man who bleeds Tottenham is Ledley King. One of the finest players in the Premier League during his day, the centre-back largely saw his potential go unfulfilled thanks to injuries.
A one-club man, King played 322 games for Spurs, scoring 13 goals and assisting eight more. During this time, he also missed 105 games due to injuries. He returned to the Lane as an assistant coach in 2020 under Jose Mourinho.
King would have been privy to just how toxic things got under the Portuguese tactician, leading to both sides parting ways. Little improved under Antonio Conte as early promise was offset by the club losing track.
Having seen one manager after another fail, King is now pleased to see Ange Postecoglou enjoy better fortunes. Speaking to Sky Sports via X, the 43-year-old has confirmed that the Australian has brought in an atmosphere of optimism at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
“He’s brought a real feel-good factor amongst everyone connected with the football club.”
The players appear to be enjoying the game again and play with wide smiles on their faces. Having a manager who you are willing to run through brick walls for is certainly the right way to go.

While Postecoglou is certainly a breath of fresh air, we should let him work his magic rather than put pressure on the players and him to succeed. As of yet, Tottenham are yet to face adversity and it will be interesting to see how we react to it. Hopefully, Ange is the man with all the answers.
