Tim Sherwood names Tottenham Hotspur trio who have benefitted from Ange Postecoglou appointment

Yves Bissouma, Destiny Udogie and Pape Matar-Sarr were all Tottenham Hotspur players before Ange Postecoglou became the coach of the club. None of them would have envisioned the kind of progress they have seen in just over three months.

Bissouma was signed to so much expectation from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer only for him to utterly disappoint in his first season. Antonio Conte, the then Tottenham manager did not seem to trust him.

Pape made a lot of noise when he was signed too. Despite his obvious talent and potential, he never got an opportunity to showcase his quality. Ange was the one who came and changed the situation.

Destiny Udogie comes from a very different background though. The Italian was signed last season by Antonio Conte but was immediately loaned back to Udinese where he continued his development. We are now bearing the fruits of that decision.

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham have been high-flying this season. They are playing some exceptional football and it comes as no surprise that they are looking like the team to beat this Premier League season.

Speaking to the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast (h/t Football. London), here is what Tim Sherwood had to say about the Tottenham Hotspur players who have really benefitted from the appointment of Ange Postecoglou

“There are loads of players there like Sarr, and Udogie who’s been fantastic when he’s come back from loan, Bissouma has been outstanding. Everyone thought they were surplus to requirements, but suddenly this guy has shown them a bit of love and now the recruitment doesn’t look half bad.”

Tottenham Hotspur take on Fulham later today in the Premier League and a win will take them two points clear of Manchester City at the top of the table. As one of the two unbeaten teams in the league, they do have pressure on them to deliver.

Ange’s side will have to overcome the cottagers without the services of Yves Bissouma who will miss the game through a suspension. That should not be an issue though as we have the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp to fill in.

All three players Sherwood mentioned have had a great start to the season. Let’s hope they continue in the same vein and impress for us.
