Simon Jordan says ‘radiator’ Harry Kane’s move to Bayern has benefitted Tottenham Hotspur

Former Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan believes Harry Kane’s departure to Bayern Munich has actually benefitted Tottenham Hotspur.

That is a big claim to make about the club’s all-time top-scorer and a player who has been our consistent source of goals ever since he broke into the starting XI under Tim Sherwood. But speaking about the move, Jordan told talkSPORT (h/t Football.London):

“The Harry Kane departure has created an opportunity for others to step into the breach because it is radiators and drains.

“If you’re listening every year, about the radiator that is Harry Kane and the drain that he wants to leave, it has a debilitating effect. Now he’s not there, it has afforded an opportunity for others.”

Kane’s head was turned a while back. He was close to sealing a move to Manchester City in 2021 and apparently even missed training sessions to force a move to Pep Guardiola’s side.

Better without Kane?

There is nothing to confirm or even suggest that Kane thought he was better than Tottenham. But he probably wouldn’t have moved to Bayern Munich if he was winning trophies here at Spurs, or maybe if he believed Tottenham had a better chance of winning titles than the Bavarian giants.

If that was ever the case, then yes, it could have created a feeling in the dressing room that the main man at the club was looking for a way out. Now that he isn’t there, there seems to be a more holistic approach when it comes to creating and scoring chances in the final third.

New leaders, like James Maddison, Son Heung-min, and Cristian Romero have come to the fore. Kane under Ange Postecoglou would have been a sight to witness and there is no doubt that he would have been scoring goals this season had he stayed.

But now that the 30-year-old has chosen to continue his career elsewhere, Spurs fans can only focus on what they have here. And what we have here is a brilliant, cohesive team that is producing results week in, and week out.

Moreover, they are looking good while doing it. We are arguably playing more attractive football than we have played under any coach since the days of Mauricio Pochettino. Who would have thought Spurs would be unbeaten and top of the league after selling Kane… but that is the case.
