Jamie Carragher takes Tottenham example to showcase Erik ten Hag’s failings at Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United are both rebuilding but only one side appears to show conviction and have seen their fortunes take an immediate turn for the best.
Ange Postecoglou has been a breath of fresh air in North London and has more or less transformed the mood at the N-17. Not only are Spurs playing with confidence and intent but also have brought about a sense of confidence amongst the fans.
The ability to churn out results consistently while also rebuilding the identity and style is easier said than done. There will be several rivals who will look at the job Postecoglou has done with envy and one of them is Manchester United.
That is what Jamie Carragher believes according to The Telegraph (Subscription Required). The Liverpool legend outlined the situation at Old Trafford and added that the Red Devils faithful will look to the mood at Spurs with a tinge of jealousy.
“For a contrast, you need only look at what is happening at Tottenham Hotspur. Many United fans must be watching Spurs and asking, ‘why don’t we play like that?'”
Ten Hag broke United’s trophy duck last season when he led them to the Carabao Cup. However, that run masked several other weaknesses in the squad that have since been ruthlessly exposed.
United have more resources and are bigger in the world of football than Tottenham. It is fair to assume that they have better resources at their disposal to build a winning side. However, our smart additions are paying off and Postecoglou deserves much credit for it.
Not only has he integrated the new signings into the playing XI but has also helped older players take their performance levels up a notch. The fact that he has been able to instill a brand of football that is synonymous with excitement speaks volumes of his managerial ability-something Ten Hag appears to lack.

While some might choose to see Carragher’s comments as a jab at United, we consider it to be an appraisal of the good work Postecoglou has done at Tottenham. Every time Ten Hag comes up with an excuse, it is good to know that the man in charge in North London opts to find solutions instead.
